While I'm not a big Pokemon fan - or a Pokemon fan at all - I don't think high-res, realistic graphics would be good for Pokemon. It would totally kill the vibe Pokemon just glows with. I think it's a neat concept and it'd be interesting, but seeing a full-fledged game like that might "feel" a little awkward. I could be completely wrong, though, 'cause I can see how it'd be REALLY cool. But seeing Pikachu look realistically mouse-like would just feel weird to me.

now that you really explain it, it would be kind of a bummer if we took the "cartoon" out of pokemon and made it as realistic as, well, real life. But the concept is cool, i agree.

Any other opinions?

Pokemon is pushed towards children so it would never work with "Skyrim graphics". Pokemon is already perfect and there's no need to change what's already perfect.

I think not Skyrim, but if they went with a Zelda Wind Waker type cel shaded style where it looks like a living cartoon, then do it in 720p or 1080p on the upcoming Wii replacement (and as close to possible of that on 3DS) that would be truly amazing. Zelda Phantom Hourglass showed a pull away style can work with that type of art very well, so I could see a classic Pokemon adventure like that, then in the battles have it up close and personal like the Wind Waker type visuals fully animated on screen with the attacks.

That could definitely work. And for the people who like the anime-style of it, it wouldn't be hard to implement those stables into the art style at all.

It would probably look cool, but Nintendo can't even be arsed to properly animate the pokemon in their handheld games (and they have had plenty of opportunities from the original gameboy to the DS), so I doubt they would ever go to the lengths of making a pokemon game with half-decent, yet alone skyrim, graphics.

A game that involves killing the little bastards in unique and creative ways would be even better.

I'd definitely be interested in animations for the attacks with a button skip option.

I think that, instead of Skyrim-style graphics, a game should be developed in the same type of open-world immersion. I don't know off the top of my head how it could be manifested, but I think the concept is pretty sweet and would be awesome if extrapolated on.

I would just be happy to have a console based pokemon game in the same vein as the handhelds regardless of graphics.

Never in 100 years would I want to see Pokemon with Skyrim level graphics. Can you imagine if this were pikachu? http://farm6.static.flickr.com/50...

Something I would be interested in is a Pokemon MMO. All 5 regions (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova) with all 650? Pokemon. and imagine REAL gym leaders (played by Gamefreaks)

It would re-spark the same interest I had in pokemon as a kid.

Short answer- yes. I'm not much of a Pokemon fan (the card game, cartoon show, etc), but I enjoyed the original GB game and don't see why they shouldn't attempt to modernize the games. It'd be neat to see a 3d, explorable world with beautiful graphics.

Although I agree with Tanooki and others, I'd just like to see good graphics in a 3d world with fully animated characters, which doesn't necessarily mean Skyrim-like.
If you haven't seen any gameplay from Ni No Kuni, check this out-

I think Pokeman fans would go nuts if there was a new game that looked anything like that.
But you can argue that it's very unrealistic to expect Nintendo to put in the effort like Level 5 and Studio Ghibli.

even if the graphics did not look like skrim, wouldnt you agree that if pokemon was a free roam rpg (it kind of is right now) it would be great!

Yeah, if it were completely free-roam, I might buy it. I still like the concept of Pokemon, but I just got disinterested extremely quickly... I think it was after Gold and Silver even though I got Sapphire once for the heck of it.
