What games have the famicom adapter inside?

And what screws do they have to be? 3 or 5?

I heard there were others besides Gyromite..

5 screws.
i've found famicom adapters in Pinball, Gyromite, Kung Fu, Ice Climber, Balloon Fight Excitebike, Stack Up and Tennis. Not sure how many others are out there, but I do believe that Clu Clu Land DID NOT come with a famicom adapter. They could exist in Wild Gunman, Hogan's Alley, SMB, Duck Hunt, Volleyball and whatever other first gen black box game I might have missed.

One thing to say:  I believe ALL Stack Ups have them.  Gyromite I think was the next common one to have them.  The others, I'm quite amazed at seeing.  I don't know how rare those could be.

Gyromite may be your best, cheapest bet if you're looking for one with a converter to play Fami games on.  Only problem is getting the person to confirm it first.

Quoted from an earlier post of mine regarding Famicom adapters, how to tell them, etc. (edited slightly from the original, edit in italics):

A tip for you: There's a certain way you can tell if a Gyromite cart has a converter inside by looking at the pins. There's a bit of a rectangular metal protrusion at the end of the metal part of each pin. If that protrusion is centered, the cart doesn't have the converter inside. If the protrusion is to the right edge of the pin, the cart does have the converter. Unfortunately, I only know that this trick works with Gyromite carts.

I bought 3 Gyromites and they don't have adapters in it.

I bought one of mine from eBay and then turned the game over and ready to open the cartridge.

To my amazement.... the screws have been removed. I assume the seller took the adapter out!

Dude.  This is insane.     I've only been checking 5 screw black box carts.  Now I gotta check em all....

I've only ever found them in Stack Up and Duck Hunt.  I still havent found one in Gyromite (and I've been looking)

I can confirm that my Duck Hunt and Stack Up follow this trick.
Does anyone have a cart that it doesnt work for.

Some of them don't make sense at all, but I saw MTPO with my own eyes or I would call bullshit myself. When I found most of these I wasn't really collecting variations. I bought a NES lot off ebay and done a local pick up on it. It was like 40 games, system, hookups and a ROB with all his parts for 100 bucks. Turn out this was a college student at UT and originally lived in NYC when he was little. Nealy every game he had was a launch title and they were all "heavy" so I started taking them apart and almost all of them had converters in them. I kick myself for selling them now but back then I was a n00b and didn't know any better. I was working on my original list then so I documented the info and sold them on ebay for profit. Live and learn I guess This topic makes me sad, the boxes were nearly all hang tabs too

hmm I havnt tryed them all but I dont know if they work the same with PAL, im in Australia and the NES was released in 1987 here, so by that time I think Nintendo pretty much solved that problem, because when I opened up games like Tennis there were not to be found, which kinda ticked me off because I still got 2 Famicom carts i wanna play.

Honestly I don't remember Josh. I didn't record the hangtabs, just the converters. I had no clue that some games had hangtabs and other didn't back then. I noticed that most of them where hangtabs but I was only doing a cart only collection then and sold boxes and manuals as they came in.

I've never seen one with a hangtab, or a Zelda for that matter.

wow that sucks for you

i can understand that where you were coming from tho...

way back when i was collecting "just carts" until i won a small lot of boxes on ebay that completed some games. from then on out if it wasn't complete it wasn't even worth my time. now days it has gotta be super rare or sealed before I will even think of purchasing it (of course for collecting purposes).

I recall hearing something about MTPO's release date being incorrect on the Nintendo brochures, etc., but I'm a bit hazy at the moment. Anyone else remember hearing this?
