LJN took a bit of a gamble on The Punisher by creating a first-person shooter without utilizing the Zapper. At first, the gameplay may seem a bit awkward because the character's weapon is controlled and aimed by crosshairs using the controller, which serves also to move the character from left to right.

While most of the game involves aiming the crosshairs and unloading ammo into thugs, the boss areas alternate between shooting and hand-to-hand combat to make for an interesting fight!

The developers of this game made it even more enjoyable by allowing the player to blow up just about everything -- and doing so is encouraged, as that's the way to find weapons, hidden areas, as well as replenish munitions.

Fans of games like Operation Wolf and Mechanized Attack will likely enjoy this game.

Your target: Kingpin -- the biggest of the big bosses. But first you've got to take on hundreds of thugs, hoods, felons and low-life criminals on each of the 6 challenging levels. This is real "arcade-style" action -- and everything's a target!

...and don't forget, while you're out hunting them... they're out hunting you!
